Speedglas 9100V Innovative Design:
3M Speedglas 9100V welding helmet features a unique and innovative design that you will hardly find in any other welding helmets of the same category. Helmet does not look like a traditional helmet rather its looks like a bike helmet.
Front part of the 3M Speedglas 9100V welding helmet has a viewing window which is about 4.2 by 2.8 inches in dimension. Right next to the viewing area, there are side windows, which increase your peripheral vision by 100%. So you don’t need to even turn your neck to see on your corners, you can easily watch what’s going on around you via the side windows.
As far as the interior of the helmet is concerned, it is equipped with a padded cushion to give high-level of comfort to the user. Cushion is so soft that you hardly feel as if you are wearing anything on your head.
There is one more worth mentioning the design-related feature of the 3M Speedglas 9100V welding helmet.
Some exhaust vents inside the helmet readily direct the exhaled air out of the helmet. This way it will reduce heat and humidity and ultimately there will not be any fog accumulation on the viewing window.
Speedglas 9100V Auto Darkening Filter:
4.2 X 2.8 Inches ultra-large viewing area is equipped with an outstanding auto-darkening filter. Below the viewing area, there are three premium arc sensors which are the most important component of the auto-darkening helmet. These sensors basically detect any arc or spark and quickly darken the shade of the viewing window.
Let me tell you, 3M Speedglas9100V is one of the highly responsive welding helmets. It shifts from light to dark within 0.1 millisecond. This gives welder an instant transition from light to the dark shade while maintaining an optimal view for torch placement and weld puddle control.
Once you are done with the weld, ADF automatically switches to a lighter shade and interestingly it requires only 40 to 250 milliseconds to do so.
It means you have less time to get ready for the next weld arc. It would not be wrong if I say that 3M Speedglas 9100V Welding helmet increases your productivity.
Optical Clarity & Shade Range:
In order to see everything in its original position plus with no distortion and color change, the optical clarity of the welding helmet is very important. Since 3M Speedglas is engineered to give an outstanding performance that’s why they have used the highest optical rating of the field that is 1/1/1/1.
This rating indicates that you will see the exact position of weld puddle with no distortion at all. Since distortion may disturb your work, so with 3M Speedglas welding helmet say bye to distortions and blurred images.
It features a variable shade range which is 5, 8, 9, and 13. So before striking an arc you can choose the shade range according to your welding process. When the helmet is at resting position, it is by default at the lighter shade that is shade 3.
Speedglas 9100V Superior Protection:
3M Speedglas 9100V welding helmet gives superior protection along with a high comfort level.
ADF filter that has been used in its viewing area is simply awesome. It is constructed of a purple-colored UV and IR filter on the outside which is backed by a series of liquid crystal cells and polarizer. These components are laminated together to allow or block certain light radiation according to the welding conditions.
Purple UV IR filter is specially meant to protect your eyes from harmful UV and IR radiation that may cause damage to the welders’ eyes.
Hood gives complete coverage to your neck and eyes. This way they remain protected from any sparks and glares.
3M Speedglas welding helmet gives high impact protection along with long-lasting durability.
Breathable Welding Helmet:
3M Speedglas welding helmet reduces the chances of overheating and helmet fogginess and gives you fresh air to breathe.
All thanks to its exhausted vents that direct the exhaled air out of the helmet, this way there will be less heat and humidity and less fogging of the ADF
Comfortable to Wear:
As per the promise of the manufacturer, 3M Speedglas series 9100 helmets gives an enhanced level of comfort to the user. This is how they can work for extended hours without any fatigue and neck strain.
It features an ergonomically designed headband system.
Exterior part of the human head has so many acupuncture points and by applying prolonged and unnecessary pressure to these points we may disturb our body system. Just because of this reason the headband of the Speedglas 9100V welding helmet is designed to avoid these problems.
Innovatively designed headband system includes:
- Two adjustable crown straps – this will help to distribute the weight evenly and increase the stability of the helmet.
- Front headband- this is fully padded to evenly distribute the pressure of helmet.
- Swivel mounted ratchet system – this smooth system is for simple and precise tightening.
This amazing helmet is suitable for head sizes of 50 to 64 cm.
Speedglas 9100V Battery Operated:
Let me add more, 3M Speedglas welding helmet is not a solar-powered welding helmet. It requires 3 V lithium-ion batteries to power the auto-darkening filter.
Interestingly, these batteries can last up to 2800 hours approximately. After this, you can replace them with a new pair of CR2030 batteries, since these are easily available in the market.
3M Speedglas 9100V Welding Helmet is best for:
This mind-blowing welding helmet is ideal for professional welders who are passionate about their work and do extended hour’s job.
Welders who perform TIG, MIG, MMA, stick, and plasma cutting welding process can fearlessly buy this welding helmet. It has got amazing switching speed that protects your eyes from all kinds of eye hazards.
What I Like:
Well if you ask me what I like about 3M Speedglas welding hood, I would give a big shout out to its switching speed. It is a highly responsive welding helmet. I mean in just 0.1milliseconds it will darken the filter to protect your eyes.
Indeed its excellent feature of it.
Then the side panels and the exhausted vent which you will hardly find in any other welding helmet of the same category. With the help of side vent, you won’t feel as if you are seeing from a tunnel and the vents will not let the fogging of the lens.
What I don’t Like:
Honestly speaking, it’s a bit heavier as compared to other welding helmets. I really don’t understand what’s the reason behind it. But what I think is, its headbands are so comfortable and ergonomically designed that won’t let you get tired. You won’t even feel its weight and all thanks to its adjustable crown straps that distribute the weight evenly.
3M Speedglas welding helmet is a helmet that is ideal for welding perfectionist. It is packed with high-quality optics along with ultra-large viewing area with wide side panels that increases your peripheral vision up to 100%. You will experience crystal clear and crisp vision and it’s because of its high-quality Auto-darkening filter.
Indeed it’s a welding helmet that has to be the part of any professional welder’s toolbox.
